Historical photographs of scientists in love
"These photos, taken mostly in the first half of the twentieth century, celebrate couples who expanded our knowledge of the world together."
Thank you all for a great year! A few final events this week:
1) Everyone's invited to one last dinner at 6:30 this Wednesday, April 25 at Tyler's. We encourage you to attend if you have feedback on this year's events or want to get involved with the planning committee. Or, just stop by to hang out! RSVP by Tuesday so we can work out rides: http://wise.pratt.duke.edu/Dinner_at_Tylers
We're honored to present Dr. Hazel Sive, professor of biology and associate dean at the MIT School of Science, as our final speaker of the year. She'll share the results from a study she co-chaired in 2011 that re-examined MIT's landmark 1999 report on the treatment of male versus female faculty. The recent study discusses accomplishments and setbacks in current-day academia. Links to the reports, as well as an excellent NY Times summary, are below.
WiSE and Cheese is coming up! March 29, 6:00, at the conference room and patio in Seeley Mudd. We're partnering with Duke's American Women's Medical Association for a fun evening. RSVP here: http://wise.pratt.duke.edu/march-30-2012-wise-and-cheese
